Advisory
As well as being required to satisfy the intent of the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA), there are a large number of standards and codes, and their many sub-sections, that must be adhered to, in order to meet legislation for disability access. Each type of building, structure or environment has different requirements within the legislative framework. These legislations include, but are not limited to:
- National Construction Code (Building Code of Australia)
- Disability (Access to Premises - Building) Standards
- AS1428 - Design for Access and Mobility
- AS1735 - Lifts, Escalators and Moving Walkways
- AS4299 - Adaptable Housing
- AS4685 - Playground Equipment
- AS/NZS2890.6 - Off Street Parking for People with a Disability
This can be confusing and even overwhelming. We offer advisory services to help clients better understand, not only the legislation and legislative framework, but also the reasons for them.
Review and advisory services offered:
- New development.
- Renovation, refurbishment and fit out.
- Pre DA (Development Application) and CC (Construction Certificate).
- Advisory service to builders and architects who are renovating an existing residential property to meet access requirements. This includes "future proofing" to allow for changes in the clients needs.
